Bridesmaids

Firstly

Dear friends, thank you for agreeing to stand alongside me on my wedding day. My heart soars at the thought of having all five of you in the same room, especially since you hail from different states! Some of you already know each other and some of you will be meeting for the first time, but all of you are an essential part of my history and my future. I could never want for kinder souls or truer spirits to surround myself with in this life, and my wedding day would feel pale without your light. I am so grateful to know you, love you, and receive your love in kind.

Dresses

I have decided on a soft sage green for the bridesmaid dresses (it was that or copper—you're welcome). The following six dress styles are available for you to choose from. Please select whichever one you would feel most comfortable wearing. I am not concerned with duplicates, so there is no need to approve your choice with me. It should take about two weeks for the dress to arrive and, despite what the countdown clock says, the dresses on this website always seem to be on sale (I've been stalking them for a while). Please let me know if that changes!

Shoes

Since my fiancé is roughly the same height as I am, I will be wearing flats or small wedges under my dress. To ensure that you ladies are not towering over the rest of us (or in pain), I have picked out a minimal pair of saddle-colored flats. Hopefully, this classic style will have some longevity and you will want to wear them again after the wedding is over!

First Dance

Our first dance will be to Nat King Cole’s “Orange Colored Sky” (the version we will be using is from the Fallout video game soundtrack). We would sincerely appreciate it if you took the time to listen to the song and commit the lyrics in bold to memory —they are simple and repeat several times, see below. When our first dance begins, we would love to have both wedding parties shout these lyrics out in time with the song. It should be a lot of fun!

I was walkin’ along, mindin' my business
When out of an orange colored sky
Flash! Bam! Alakazam!
Wonderful you came by

I was hummin' a tune, drinkin' in sunshine
When out of that orange colored view
Flash! Bam! Alakazam!
I got a look at you

One look and I yelled, "timber!"
Watch out for flyin’ glass

'Cause the ceilin’ fell in and the bottom fell out
I went into a spin and I started to shout, "I've been hit”
This is it, this is it, I-T it!

I was walkin’ along, mindin' my business
When love came and hit me in the eye
Flash! Bam! Alakazam!
Out of an orange colored sky

(musical interlude)

One look and I yelled, "timber!"
Watch out for flyin’ glass

'Cause the ceilin’ fell in and the bottom fell out
I went into a spin and I started to shout, "I've been hit”
This is it, this is it, I-T it!

I was walkin' along, mindin' my business
When love came and hit me in the eye
Flash! Bam! Alakazam!

Out of an orange colored, purple striped, pretty green polka-dot sky
Flash! Bam!
Alakazam and goodbye

Wow, I thought love was much softer than that
What a most disturbing sound
